HC Deb 30 March 1905 vol 143 cc1705-6
MR. FIELD

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Department of Agriculture have appointed an expert to inquire into and report upon the electro peat-coal manufacture; and whether it can be successfully carried out in Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) The Department have inquired into certain processes for the manufacture of peat fuel by electricity, but, in the absence of information as to the particular process referred to in the Question, they are not prepared to express any opinion as to whether it could be successfully carried out in Ireland.
