§ MR. WEIRI beg to ask the Lord-Advocate if he will state the names of the six counties in Scotland where the medical officers of health engage in general or consultative practice; and will arrangements be made for such officer to give their whole time to the duties of their office when fresh appointments are made.
*THE LORD-ADVOCATE (Mr. SCOTT DICKSON, Glasgow, Bridgton)The names of the counties are Bute, Forfar, Haddington, Orkney, Zetland, Ross and Cromarty. Since 1901 it has been a necessary condition of participation in the Sanitary Officers' Grant that a county medical officer shall not engage in general private practice.
