HC Deb 24 March 1905 vol 143 c1078
MR. J. H. LEWIS (Flint Boroughs)

To ask the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether representations have reached him to the effect that numerous British inhabitants of Baku are in great danger, and that some of them find difficulty in obtaining food; and what steps His Majesty's Government are taking for the protection of British subjects in Baku.

(Answered by Earl Percy.) We understand that some anxiety is felt as to the safety of British residents in Baku, and His Majesty's Ambassador at St. Petersburg has been instructed to make representations to the Russian Government on the subject, but the authorities appear to be taking special steps for the restoration of order.
