HC Deb 21 March 1905 vol 143 cc644-5
MR. LEVY (Leicestershire, Loughborough)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that a South African mining company has erected a barbed wire fence round its compound, and has covered the whole of the open space in the center of the compound overhead with wire netting; and whether he will give instructions for this form of confinement to be discontinued.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Mr. LYTTELTON, Warwick and Leamington)

If the hon. Member will communicate to me the name of the company to which he refers, I will consider whether it is necessary to inquire into the matter.

MR. LEVY

The Frank Smith Diamond Mining Company.
