HC Deb 20 March 1905 vol 143 c436
MR. T. W. RUSSELL (Tyrone, S.)

To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the political pensions granted under the provisions of 32 and 33 Vic., c. 60, are subject to a declaration of necessitous circumstances; and if he will state the terms of such declaration.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) Yes, Sir, the grant of such pensions is subject to a declaration that the pensioner's total income is inadequate to maintain his station in life. The declaration is framed under the provisions of Section 7 of the Act of 1869.
