HC Deb 10 March 1905 vol 142 c1049
MR. McKENNA (Monmouthshire, N.)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that in the arrangements by the Metropolitan District Railway for driving the proposed new electric trains, no apparent provision is being made for the driver to be accompanied by an assistant; and that, in case of an accident to the driver, no competent person would be present to take charge of the train; and whether the Board of Trade will bring the question before the directors with a view to ensuring the safety of passengers and officials.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) I beg to refer the hon. Member to the reply given to a recent Question by the hon. Member for North-West Durham on this subject. The reply is printed in yesterday's† Votes.
