§ MR. J. P. FARRELLI beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether the proposed direct mid-day mail service between Longford and Elphin has yet been begun; and, if not, when he proposes to inaugurate it.
LORD STANLEYThe question of establishing a day mail service between Longford and Elphin has been carefully considered, but I regret to find that I should not be justified in giving this accommodation in view of the additional expense which would be involved. The cost of the existing service is very high as compared with the revenue from the correspondence.
