SWIFT MACNEILLMember for South Donegal, rose in his place, and asked leave to move the Adjournment of the House for the purpose of discussing a definite matter of urgent public importance, viz., "the appointment of Lord Selborne to the High Commissionership of South Africa, having regard to the circumstance of his having filled the office of Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies from 1895 till 1900, the period of the Jameson raid, and of friction between the Colonial Office and the South African Republic which led to the Boer War;" but the pleasure of the House not having been signified, Mr. SPEAKER called on those Members who supported the Motion to rise in their places, and not less than forty Members having accordingly risen:—
