§ MR. CHARLES HOBHOUSETo ask the Secretary of State for War what will be the proportion of guns to sabres and bayonets when the new order for artillery is completed; and what will be the relative proportions in the British, French, and German armies.
(Answered by Mr. Secretary Arnold-Forster.) The proportion of field guns to sabres and bayonets in the British Field Army will be 1 to 220. In France the proportion is 1 to 346. In Germany the present proportion is 1 to 180, but it is not possible to say what the proportion will be when the German army is provided with the new quick-firing gun.
