MR. GIBSON BOWLES (Lynn Regis)I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade do His Majesty's Government propose to take any steps in order to carry out the abolition of sugar bounties, the equalisation of the conditions of competition between the beet and cane sugar, and the promotion of the consumption of sugar declared by the Sugar Convention to be the object of that Convention, by representing to those British self-governing Colonies which have been declared to give a bounty, viz., Canada, Australia, and South Africa, the propriety of abolishing those bounties.
