HC Deb 29 June 1905 vol 148 cc547-8
LIEUT.-COLONEL PRYCE-JONES

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Board of Education whether he is aware that the Montgomeryshire Education Authority passed a resolution on the 20th instant to the effect that the payments of the claims and salaries on account of the non-provided schools for the quarter ending June 30th should be deferred until July 17th, pending the report of the executive committee on the replies from the managers to a letter addressed to them in the matter of the repairs, alterations, and additions to the school buildings, as required by the county surveyor; and will he say what steps, if any, he proposes to take to ensure that the teachers' salaries may be paid as usual pending the negotiations and settlement of the question of repairs and additions between themselves, on the one hand, and the education authority and the Board of Education on the other.

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (Sir WILLIAM ANSON,) Oxford University

The Board have received no intimation from the local education authority of the passing of the resolution referred to, nor have any complaints been received from managers. Until the receipt of complaints, it is impossible to say what steps, if any, it may be necessary to take in the matter; but when any such complaints are received, the Board will at once communicate with the authority on the subject.
