HC Deb 29 June 1905 vol 148 c536
MR. SLOAN

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that complaints have repeatedly b en made regarding the condition of Forthill burial ground, county Galway; and whether, in view of the fact that desecration of graves in this burying ground has taken, and is frequently taking, place, he will order an inquiry to be made into the whole circumstances.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) In April, 1904, the Local Government Board received a complaint that this burial ground was overcrowded, with a request that further interments should be prohibited. The medical officer of health of the Galway Urban District Council thereupon reported that there was still plenty of room for interments in the burial ground. No further complaints have been received by the Board, but they are prepared to consider any facts which may be brought to their notice.
