§ DR. MACNAMARA (Camberwell, N.)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is now prepared to lay a detailed statement of account respecting the £470,000 balance, stated by Lieutenant-Colonel Morgan in his-evidence before the Royal Commission on the South African War to be standing to the credit of the Natal Field Force canteens when that officer left South Africa; and whether he will cause an inquiry to be made into the present working of the South African garrison institute system which grew out of the field force canteen system.
§ MR. ARNOLD-FORSTERThe field force canteens accounts will come within the purview of the Royal Commission. A report on the working of the South African garrison institutes is due from South Africa in July, and until I have seen it I cannot say what steps will be taken in regard to it.
