HC Deb 28 June 1905 vol 148 cc359-60
MR. WEIR

To ask the President of the Local Government Board if he will state how many licences have been issued to male and female motorists respectively, other than professional chauffeurs.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) The only information I have as to the number of licences granted to drivers of motor-cars is that contained in the Parliamentary Return issued last year, from which it appeared that up to April 1st, 1904,5,152 licences had been granted to drivers of motor-cycles and. 35,518 to drivers of motor-cars. The Return, however, does not specify the number of licences given to male and female drivers respectively, or the number given to professionals.
