HC Deb 26 June 1905 vol 148 c71
MR. CROOKS (Woolwich)

To ask the I Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the fact that 150 men engaged in the Danger Building, Royal Laboratory, Woolwich Arsenal, were indefinitely suspended on Saturday, June 17th; and whether this method is adopted only to reduce the rates of pay in these departments of individual men.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Arnold-Forster.) Notices of suspension were given to 160 men in the Royal Laboratory Danger Buildings, Royal Arsenal, on the 17th instant on account of shortness of work. It is regretted that it is probable that these men will have to be discharged.
