§ MR. SCHWANNI beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he will ascertain when the further reports from the Government of Bengal and the Chief Commissioner of Assam respecting the education of children on plantations, are likely to be submitted; and will he cause statistics to be furnished as to the number of children of a school-going age in Indian plantations, such as the Secretary of State for the Colonies has requested to be supplied annually in Ceylon by the Director of Public Instruction with regard to Indian coolie children on estates in that colony.
