GERALD BALFOURThe Hertfordshire County Council made a representation to the Local Government Board to the effect that an alteration of the administrative county was desirable so as to include in it the parishes referred to. After a local inquiry had been held, at which the various parties were heard, the Board decided to give effect to the representation, and a Provisional Order was issued accordingly. The Essex County Council have petitioned against the Bill to confirm the Order and the matter will now come before a Select Committee.
