To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland what is the total amount of the new giant towards the expense of school buildings in Ireland; within what period it is proposed that this grant should be spent; and what is the average amount of the annual grant for this purpose for the last ten years.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) The total amount of the substituted grant is £210,000, consisting of £140,000 to be voted by Parliament from public funds and £70,000 to be voted from the Ireland Development Grant. This amount will be spent in six years or more, as may be arranged. The average amount of the annual grant voted for the last ten years was £34,100.
