HC Deb 31 July 1905 vol 150 c909
MR. JAMES O'CONNOR

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he will see that, in reference to any impending promotions in the Tea Office of His Majesty's Customs, or the awarding of any further checking allowances in that office, due consideration shall be given to the claims' of seniority and long service in the Customs Department.

(Answered by Mr. Victor Cavendish.) It is the practice of the Board of Customs, in making selections for the appointments in question, to give due consideration to the claims of officers in the different branches of the Department, and there is no intention to depart from this practice.
