§ MR. SAMUEL ROBERTS (Sheffield, Ecclesall)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War when. the new field guns, repeatedly promised to the 4th West York Volunteer Artillery in lieu of the present antiquated muzzle-loading ones, will be issued; and whether, if it be not possible to issue new guns, he will give instructions that some of the guns now in use by the Royal Field Artillery, when replaced by the new quick-firing ones (now in course of manufacture and delivery), be delivered to the corps.
§ MR. ARNOLD-FORSTERI think my hon. friend is under a misapprehension; there has been no intention of giving this corps any of the new field guns now under construction. In reply to the latter part of the Question, I have no further information to give the hon. Member beyond what has been already given to the House this session.
§ SIR ALBERT ROLLIT (Islington, S.)asked the right hon. Gentleman whether ha considered that troops could be ade- 926 quately trained by the use of obsolete guns.
§ MR. SPEAKEROrder, order! That is a matter of opinion.
