HC Deb 28 July 1905 vol 150 cc784-5
MR. CHARLES CRAIG (Antrim, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that James Creaney applied to the Rural District Council of Antrim for a cottage under the Labourers Acts nearly three years ago; that a suitable site was found on the land of Charles Morrison, who was willing to have the cottage built on his land, and that, although nearly three years have elapsed since Creaney's application, the erection of the cottage has not yet been begun; and, if so, what explanation does the rural district council give for the delay in the matter.

(Answered by Mr. Waiter Long.) A scheme for upwards of forty cottages, including one for Creaney, was adopted by the council on the 20th July; 1903. A Local Government Board inquiry was held on the 13th September,1904, and the scheme approved of, and a Provisional Order granted on the 30th December. The necessary conveyances have since been in course of preparation and the council have applied for arbitration, which has not yet taken place. The rural district council claim that there has been no unnecessary delay in the matter.
