HC Deb 27 July 1905 vol 150 c610
MR. J. P. FARRELL (Longford, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that six labourers living in labourers' cottages in Granard urban district, have applied for an extension of their present allotments by half an acre each to the Granard District Council, but have been referred to the urban council by the former; and if he will direct that in holding an inquiry into any representations in the rural district the inspector will exercise the powers conferred by Section 4 of 54 and 55 Vic., c. 71, in respect of the failure of the urban district to take action in this matter.

MR. WALTER LONG

The Labourers Acts do not apply to urban districts. Granard has become an urban district since the cottages referred to were provided by the rural sanitary authority.
