HC Deb 26 July 1905 vol 150 c344
MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty if he will consider the desirability of stopping the practice of soliciting young recruits within the barracks to purchase tickets for theatrical performances in theatres specially provided and maintained by His Majesty's Government for the use of the Royal Marines, and to which the public are freely admitted on payment at the doors.

THE SECRETARY TO THE ADMIRALTY (Mr. PRETYMAN, Suffolk, Wood-bridge)

The alleged practice is not known to exist.

MR. WEIR

Will the hon. Gentleman make inquiries? It is within my knowledge that the practice does exist

MR. PRETYMAN

I have made inquiries and given the hon. Member the information I have received.

MR. WEIR

It is false information.
