MR. HARMSWORTH (Caithness-shire)

To ask the Lord-Advocate what steps the Government intend to take in view of the conclusion arrived at by the Departmental Committee on the Sea Fisheries of Sutherland and Caithness, that more vigorous efforts should be made to prevent the infringement of the by-laws by trawlers operating in the Moray Firth.

(Answered by Mr. Scott Dickson.) The Fishery Board at present make the best use of the fleet at their disposal, and un-till more funds have accumulated they cannot arrange to purchase other cruisers.

To ask the Lord-Advocate, in view of the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on the Sea Fisheries of Sutherland and Caithness, what step's are intended to be taken to establish motor services between John o'Groats and Wick, between Huna and Thurso, and between Tongue and Thurso and the other places. mentioned in the Report.

(Answered by Mr. Scott Dickson.) Proposals for assistance in establishing motor services designed to develop fishing or other trade in congested districts where existing means of communication are insufficient will be favourably considered by the Congested Districts Board.
