HC Deb 24 July 1905 vol 150 c22
MR. NANNETTI (Dublin, College Green)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether, seeing that the clerical staff of the Post Office were allowed a holiday on the King's birthday, he will say whether the manipulative staff will be given a day in lieu thereof, or a day's pay; and, if not, what is the reason for this difference of treatment.

(Answered by Lord Stanley) The conditions of service which apply to the manipulative staff necessarily differ in many respects from those which apply to the clerical staff. I see no sufficient reason for altering the existing practice as regards holidays.
