To ask the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will take steps to ascertain the number of Chinese coolies imported into British North Borneo since the company's charter was granted.

(Answered by Earl Percy.) The information asked for by the hon. Member could only be obtained by private inquiries on the spot. Perhaps the hon. Member will inform me if there are reasons which would appear to justify the expenditure of time and trouble i procuring it.
