HC Deb 18 July 1905 vol 149 c1043
MR. CROOKS (Woolwich)

To ask the Postmaster-General if he will state the total number of persons on the established staff of the Post Office, male and female; the total number of female staff, established; and the total number of persons, male and female established or unestablished, who are under the age of twenty-one years.

(Answered, by Lori Stanley.) The total number of persons on the established staff of the Post Office on March 31st last was 84,113, of whom 11,579 were females. In order to give the information asked for in the second part of the hon. Member's Question, it would be necessary to have a Return prepared of the ages of all the staff of the Post Office. This would involve considerable expense which would perhaps scarcely be justified.
