I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, in view of the increases of salary that have been granted to certain officials of the Irish Agricultural Department, some of whom had not been two years in the Department's service, will he state what was the latest recommendation made to the Treasury on behalf of the clerks transferred from the Veterinary Department to the new Department who have now eleven years service and only £97 10s. a year, and who will have served twenty-six years before they become entitled to 15s. a week pension.

Any recommendations which may have been made to the Treasury are of a confidential character, and I can give no information on the subject.
