To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he can state the result of his inquiries into the case of Mr. William Davies, of Dominica, West Indies.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Lyttelton.) A petition to His Majesty the King in Council from Mr. William Davies, praying that a judgment of the Supreme Court of the Leeward Islands might be varied, was duty forwarded in May last to the Registrar of the Privy Council, who, Mr. Lyttelton understands, addressed a letter to Mr. Davies on the 25th of that month explaining the steps which he should take in order to bring his petition before His Majesty in Council.
