§ CAPTAIN NORTON (Newington, W.)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether, seeing that sorters and telegraphists on attaining the age of twenty-five years are granted an additional increment of 3s. per week by reason of their reaching a marriageable age, and seeing that assistant clerks (new class) at the age specified will have served for a longer period and passed a more severe educational test while performing work of a superior nature, he will consider the advisability of granting a similar increment to assistant clerks (new class).
§ THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY (Mr. VICTOR CAVENDISH,) Derbyshire, W.The position and pay of the assistant clerks has been most fully considered and a decision thereon arrived at and communicated to heads of Departments, last May. I can see no grounds for reopening the question.
