HC Deb 11 July 1905 vol 149 c261
MR. HERBERT ROBERTS (Denbighshire, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he will state the grounds upon which the Government decided to sanction the administrative proposals in regard to the partition of Bengal; whether he will lay Papers upon the Table with reference to the nature and extent of these changes, together with the correspondence relating thereto; and, if so, whether these Papers will be laid before the end of the present session.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Mr. BBODRICK, Surrey, Guilford)

The grounds on which the Government of India made the proposals, which have been accepted, will be gathered from the Papers which I propose to lay on the Table as soon as possible. Subject to what I may hear from the Government of India, I hope the Papers may be laid before the close of the session.
