HC Deb 06 July 1905 vol 148 cc1327-8
MR. EDMUND ROBERTSON (Dundee)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether supplies sent to South Africa for the purposes of the war paid Customs duties; and, if so, to what amount.

* MR. ARNOLD-FORSTER

Supplies sent to South Africa and consumed by the Army did not pay Customs duty. It is not possible to state the amount so paid at the present time. On certain surplus supplies sold to merchants, etc., in South Africa after the war Customs duties have been paid.
