§ MR CULLINAN (Tipperary, S.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners have made any efforts to purchase evicted farms or untenanted lands in the county of Tipperary; if so, will he state in how many cases; in how many has the purchase been completed; in how many have the negotiations failed, giving the names of the owners, extent of holding, and the causes which prevented the completion of the purchases.
§ MR. WALTER LONGThe Commissioners have negotiated for the purchase of six estates in this county. In three cases the negotiations are proceeding; in two the offers made have been refused by vendors; and in one case the purchase has been completed. I do not think it desirable to give particulars of the cases referred to in the last inquiry.
