HC Deb 06 July 1905 vol 148 cc1343-4
MR. BOLAND

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Commissioners of National Education require any special educational qualifications in relation to the teaching of infants on the part of female teachers before recognising the schools taught by them as suitable in the sense of Rule 127 (b); if so, what are these special qualifications.

MR. WALTER LONG

In the case of model infant schools, it is required that the teachers shall be qualified to give instruction in Kindergarten, and, while such qualification is desirable in the case of ordinary infant schools, the Commissioners do not insist on it, but the teaching must be otherwise efficient.
