HC Deb 06 July 1905 vol 148 c1330
MR. SAMUEL ROBERTS (Sheffield, Ecclesall)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that it has hitherto been the practice to give one-half of the orders for bayonets required for the Army to private firms; and whether, out of 12,200 bayonets or thereabouts now so required, he will see that the private firms obtain their proper share.

MR. ARNOLD-FORSTER

Will the hon. Member please refer to my reply to a similar Question yesterday† from the hon. Member for Central Sheffield.

MR. J. F. HOPE (Sheffield, Brightside)

I trust the right hon Gentleman will bear in mind that 19,000 bayonets have already been turned out from Enfield this year.
