HC Deb 05 July 1905 vol 148 c1133
MR. THOMAS O'DONNELL (Kerry, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will state what assistance is being given to the fishing industry on the west coast of Kerry in the way of grants for boats and gear, training of fishermen, and establishing boatbuilding suitable to the district; and whether he will give the amounts expended under those heads in Kerry during each of the past five years.

THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELAND (Mr. WALTER LONG, Bristol, S.)

The Board do not make free grants for the purposes mentioned, but during the past five years they have made loans to fishermen in county Kerry as follows: for boats and gear, £6,697; for providing barrel making materials, £2,802.
