HC Deb 04 July 1905 vol 148 c969
MR. PIRIE (Aberdeen, N.)

To ask the First Lord of the Treasury, in view of the disclosures of the Secretary of State for India as to the accounts and management of the field force canteen in South Africa during the war, will the Government take steps to secure investigation of these accounts by the Royal Commission or, failing this, could a separate investigation take place.

(Answered by Mr. A. J. Balfour.) I think the hon. Member will see that the terms of reference to the Royal Commission are wide enough to include this subject.
