HC Deb 28 February 1905 vol 141 c1490
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Board of Works, whether any steps have yet been taken by that Department to form a drainage board for the district of Cam and Clonwhelan, through which the River Riffey flows, in which in consequence of flooding in 1903 two men lost their lives, and which is a source of loss to the farmers of this district.

MR. VICTOR CAVENDISH

The Board of Works have no power to take any steps in the direction of forming a drainage district except upon the receipt of a petition from persons interested, who must submit the necessary maps and plans. No petition has been received in the case of the localities referred to. † See (4) Debates, cxxi., 1038.
