HC Deb 27 February 1905 vol 141 cc1333-4
MR.SHEEHY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the Local Government Auditor has surcharged three members of the Killadysert Union £6 18s. 2d., being for medical and surgical appliances; and that the guardians surcharged appealed to the Local Government Board; and, if so, will he say whether the surcharge has been sustained by the Local Government Board; and what are the grounds for the surcharge.

MR. WYNDHAM

The facts are correctly stated. The grounds for the surcharge, which was upheld by the Local Government Board, were that the amount surcharged represented the cost of medical and surgical appliances supplied over and above the reasonable wants of the medical officer, and that the payment was excessive and exorbitant.
