HC Deb 27 February 1905 vol 141 c1320
MR. CATHCART WASON

I beg to ask the hon. Member for North Huntingdonshire, as representing the Board of Agriculture, whether the expression of opinion coming from Canada in favour of the repeal of restrictions upon the importation of Canadian store cattle is to be taken as the opinion of the farmers, or if it is only the opinion of shareholders in large cattle ranches throughout America and of certain shipping interests.

MR. AILWYN FELLOWES (Huntingdonshire, Ramsey)

The Canadian Government informs us that Canadian feeling and opinion are still in favour of the repeal of the existing statutory restrictions on the importation of live animals from the Dominion into Great Britain. The Board, of course, accept the assurance the given, and they cannot associate themselves with the suggestion made in the latter part of the Question of the hon. Member.
