I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty what is the number of ships of the Royal Navy set apart for the training of boys and youths; and how many boys and youths are at present receiving instruction and under training in these ships.

THE SECRETARY TO THE ADMIRALTY (Mr. PRETYMAN, Suffolk, Wood-bridge)

Twelve ships, including three sea-going cruisers, are set apart for the training of boys and youths, of whom 4,193 are at present receiving instruction and under training in these ships. In addition, 100 youths have been temporarily embarked in two other cruisers.
