HC Deb 21 February 1905 vol 141 c756
MR. REGINALD LUCAS (Portsmouth)

To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether any provision exists for bestowing rewards for meritorious service upon petty officers in the Royal Navy, corresponding to those granted to non-commissioned officers in the Army and Marines; and, if not, whether he can hold out any hope of considering the matter.

(Answered by Mr. Pretyman.) There is no such provision made for petty officers in the Royal Navy. This is one of many differences between the conditions of service and privileges in the Army and the Navy, and it is not proposed to make any change.
