I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state what proportion of the 998 white men who, according to Lord Milner"s report, were employed in June last in the Witwatersrand gold mines, on unskilled labour which prior to the war was performed by Kaffirs, are still employed on such labour.
