HC Deb 08 August 1905 vol 151 c599
SIR THOMAS DEWAR (Tower Hamlets, St. George's)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board if he will instruct the Board's medical inspector to report to what extent dust destructors, similar to that erected by the City of Westminster in the vicinity of Commercial Road, Lambeth, are prejudicial to public health.

(Answered, by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) The Local Government Board have not received any complaint with regard to the destructor referred to, nor am I aware that there is any evidence to show that modern destructors cause nuisance or injury to the health of the populations in their neighbourhood. I do not at present see any sufficient reason to direct a general inquiry on this subject, but I will instruct one of the medical inspectors of the Board to report to me as to the particular destructor above mentioned.
