HC Deb 02 August 1905 vol 150 c1319
MR. TENNANT (Berwickshire)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can grant a Return of the deaths from fire in factories and workshops during the last five or ten years.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Akers-Douglas.) The figures before 1901 are not available, and could only be procured by a very laborious search among the accident reports. The number of deaths caused by the burning of premises, as reported by the factory inspectors, in each of the years 1901 to 1904 were as follows, seven, twelve, three, and seven.
