HC Deb 01 August 1905 vol 150 c1156
MR. COGHILL (Stoke-upon-Trent)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Natal Government has received any complaints as to the threatening attitude of the Kaffirs in the Mooi River district to the white population; whether, in view of the growing feeling of insecurity amongst the farmers of that district, His Majesty's Government will insist that full and adequate protection for their lives and property shall be given to all white men and women by the Natal Government.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Lyttelton.) These complaints have not been brought to my notice, and the hon. Member is doubtless aware that Natal is a self-governing colony, whose Government is responsible for its administration and security.
