HC Deb 01 August 1905 vol 150 c1152
MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)

To ask the Secretary to the Board of Trade whether he is aware that legal proceedings will be shortly opened in New York to fix the responsibility for the leakage of the Government cotton crop reports, and that the grand jury has subpoenaed twenty New York cotton dealers to give evidence in the matter; and whether the Board of Trade will watch this inquiry with a view to take measures to prohibit international gambling in cotton options and futures.

(Answered by Mr. Bonar Law.) I have no official information as to the proceedings referred to, but the whole matter will be watched.
