HC Deb 01 August 1905 vol 150 cc1164-5
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord-advocate whether he is aware that the gamekeepers on the estate of the Mackintosh of Mackintosh, Invernessshire, are in the habit of placing strychnine poison in close proximity to a main road for the purpose of destroying dogs and cats; and in view of the fact that a dog which was following its owner in the neighbourhood of Ruthven Farm on the 9th July was poisoned with strychnine, will he order an inquiry into the circumstances under which this poison was purchased; and will he state why the Procurator-Fiscal has failed to take action in the matter, although the circumstances of the case have been fully reported to him by the police.

MR. SCOTT DICKSON

I am not aware of the facts as stated in the first part of the Question; the whole papers on the subject are, however, being at present considered by Crown Counsel, and I have asked for a report from Crown Counsel.
