HC Deb 01 August 1905 vol 150 cc1153-4
MR. FIELD

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state the reasons why the coastguards have abandoned the Lambay station; and whether he can ascertain from the men formerly stationed there, or from any other source, how often Lambay Harbour was used as a refuge by fishermen or others during the past five years.

(Answered by Mr. Pretyman.) The lease of the property expired on May 1st, 1904, and the importance of the duties of the station did not warrant the expense of its further retention. Inquiries are being made with regard to the last part of the Question, and I will communicate the result to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
