HC Deb 18 April 1905 vol 145 c445
MR. DAVID MORGAN

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer if his attention has been drawn to complaints as to the insufficient number of shillings and sixpences now in circulation as compared with the number of florins and half-crowns; and whether steps will betaken to increase the number of shillings and sixpences for circulation.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN,) Worcestershire, E.

No, Sir, I have received no complaints on this subject. There is a large supply of shillings and sixpences at the Bank of England and an ample reserve of both denominations at the Royal Mint.
